The 2007-2008 UW Forensics Team Members
Sponsored by the L&S Honors Program, UW-Madison Forensics is student-initiated, student-managed, and nationally competitive. The team strives to bring a better understanding of public speech to students through intercollegiate competitions.
Forensics competitors hone their communication skills including writing, speaking, researching and brainstorming and represent some of the highest caliber university students from across the United States. Although high caliber students are often excellent writers, it is important not to assume their verbal proficiency. Forensics is an excellent way for students to acquire the verbal skills that will be an important element of their leadership when they graduate.
Forensics also offers a unique opportunity for students of different races, religions, sexual preferences and domestic upbringings to express their opinions through literary works and original oratories. The benefits of a successful team will carry over to the university as a whole through public performances intended to promote discourse about social injustices, politics, technology, ethics, and human rights.
