Welcome to the Letters and Science Honors Program! Soon you will be attending SOAR (Summer Orientation, Advising and Registration) and taking your first steps in your academic career at the UW-Madison. This page is designed to give you the information you need in order to be ready for SOAR and for your first semester of college.
Why get SOAR advising with the Honors program?
Even if you are unsure about your major or are considering fields like Business, Law or Medicine, you should be advised by L&S Honors Advisors. This is the only way to ensure that you receive information specific to the Honors experience at the UW-Madison, such as Honors degree requirements and how to distinguish between different Honors course designations. Honors Advisors have plenty of information about, experience with and links to the specialized areas of Business, Law, Medicine and the dozens of majors offered through the College of Letters and Science. In essence, we will serve as your "home base" for your second SOAR day -- and your time at the UW-Madison.
To prepare for SOAR -- and for the UW Honors experience -- please take some time to review the following information.
Preparing for SOAR
At SOAR
- What to expect at SOAR

- Check out the SOAR Booklet, with information about honors, campus resources, pre-med and pre-law guidelines, and more!
After SOAR
We look forward to meeting you very soon at SOAR. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
